Protection from evil eye கண் திருஷ்டியிலிருந்து பாதுகாப்பு الِاسْتِعَاذَةُ مِنَ العَيْنِ

 The Prophet ﷺ used to seek protection for al-Hasan and al-Husayn, and he would say: “Your father used to seek protection with these words for Isma‘il and Ishaq:

*أَعُوذُ بكَلِماتِ اللَّهِ التّامَّةِ، مِن كُلِّ شيطانٍ وهامَّةٍ، ومِنْ كُلِّ عَيْنٍ لامَّةٍ.*

‘I seek refuge in the perfect words of Allah from every devil and every harmful creature, and from every evil, envious eye.’”

நபி ﷺ அவர்கள் ஹசன் மற்றும் ஹுசைன் (ரலி) இருவருக்கும் பாதுகாப்புத் துஆ செய்து கூறுவார்கள்: “உங்கள் தந்தை (இப்ராஹீம் அலைஹிஸ்ஸலாம்) இதே துஆவைக் கொண்டு இஸ்மாயீல் மற்றும் இஸ்ஹாக் عليهم السلام ஆகியோருக்குப் பாதுகாப்பு தேடுவார்:

*أَعُوذُ بكَلِماتِ اللَّهِ التّامَّةِ، مِن كُلِّ شيطانٍ وهامَّةٍ، ومِنْ كُلِّ عَيْنٍ لامَّةٍ.*

‘ஒவ்வொரு ஷைத்தானிடமிருந்தும், ஒவ்வொரு தீங்கிழைக்கும் உயிரினத்திடமிருந்தும், மற்றும் ஒவ்வொரு தீய கண் பார்வையிலிருந்தும் அல்லாஹ்வின் பரிபூரண வார்த்தைகள் மூலம் நான் பாதுகாப்பு தேடுகிறேன்.’”

Allah, Glorified and Exalted, is the One who is able to avert harms from His servant. The Prophet ﷺ used to seek refuge in Allah from what he feared and was cautious of, and he would also seek protection for others. Therefore, a believer should adhere to this and seek refuge in Allah from the evils of His creation.

In this hadith, ʿAbdullah ibn ʿAbbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) informs that the Prophet ﷺ used to seek protection for al-Hasan and al-Husayn (may Allah be pleased with them both), the two sons of ʿAli ibn Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him) and Fatimah, the daughter of the Prophet ﷺ, by saying: “I seek refuge in the perfect words of Allah from every devil and every harmful creature, and from every evil, harmful eye.” He ﷺ would say to them: “Your father — meaning your forefather Ibrahim عليه السلام — used to seek protection for his two sons, Ismaʿil and Ishaq, with these words.”

كانَ النبيُّ ﷺ يُعَوِّذُ الحَسَنَ والحُسَيْنَ، ويقولُ: إنَّ أَباكُما كانَ يُعَوِّذُ بها إسْماعِيلَ وإسْحاقَ:

*أَعُوذُ بكَلِماتِ اللَّهِ التّامَّةِ، مِن كُلِّ شيطانٍ وهامَّةٍ، ومِنْ كُلِّ عَيْنٍ لامَّةٍ.*

Seeking refuge in Allah the Exalted and in His words means turning to Him and taking shelter with Him, for He alone is capable of repelling evils from His servant. The “words of Allah” may refer to His Most Beautiful Names, His Exalted Attributes, and the revealed books sent down from Him, Glorified and Exalted; or it may refer to the two chapters of seeking refuge: Surah al-Falaq and Surah an-Nas; or it may refer to the Noble Qur’an. The description “perfect” is an inseparable attribute of the words of Allah, meaning complete and free from deficiency, or beneficial, healing, or blessed.

His ﷺ statement, “from every devil and every harmful creature,” means from every devil, whether human or jinn. “Hammah” refers to every creature that possesses venom, and it is also said that it refers to crawling creatures of the earth. “The harmful eye” is the eye that causes harm and inflicts damage upon the one it looks at.

From this hadith we learn the virtue of seeking refuge with the supplication mentioned in it, and it also shows the Prophet’s ﷺ eagerness to follow the practice of the close friend of the Most Merciful, Ibrahim عليه السلام.

அல்லாஹ் சுப்ஹானஹு வ தஆலா தமது அடியாரிடமிருந்து தீங்குகளைத் தடுக்க வல்லவன். நபி ﷺ அவர்கள் தாம் அஞ்சியதும் எச்சரிக்கையாக இருந்ததிலிருந்தும் அல்லாஹ்விடம் பாதுகாப்பு தேடுவார்கள்; மற்றவர்களுக்கும் பாதுகாப்புத் துஆ செய்து கொடுப்பார்கள். ஆகவே, ஒரு முஃமின் இதை கடைப்பிடித்து, அல்லாஹ்வின் படைப்புகளின் தீங்குகளிலிருந்து அல்லாஹ்விடம் பாதுகாப்பு தேட வேண்டும்.

இந்த ஹதீஸில், அப்துல்லாஹ் இப்னு அப்பாஸ் (ரலி) அவர்கள், நபி ﷺ அவர்கள் அலி இப்னு அபி தாலிப் (ரலி) மற்றும் நபியின் மகள் ஃபாத்திமா (ரலி) அவர்களின் மகன்களான ஹசன் மற்றும் ஹுசைன் (ரலி) இருவருக்கும் பின்வரும் வார்த்தைகளால் பாதுகாப்புத் துஆ செய்து வந்தார்கள் என்று அறிவிக்கிறார்கள்: “ஒவ்வொரு ஷைத்தானிடமிருந்தும், ஒவ்வொரு விஷமுள்ள தீங்கிழைக்கும் உயிரினத்திடமிருந்தும், மேலும் ஒவ்வொரு தீங்கிழைக்கும் கண் பார்வையிலிருந்தும் அல்லாஹ்வின் பரிபூரண வார்த்தைகள் மூலம் நான் பாதுகாப்பு தேடுகிறேன்.” மேலும் அவர் ﷺ, “உங்கள் தந்தை — அதாவது உங்கள் உயர்ந்த முன்னோர் இப்ராஹீம் (அலைஹிஸ்ஸலாம்) — இதே வார்த்தைகளால் தமது மக்களான இஸ்மாயீல் மற்றும் இஸ்ஹாக் (அலைஹிஸ்ஸலாம்) ஆகியோருக்கு பாதுகாப்பு தேடினார்” என்று கூறுவார்கள்.

அல்லாஹ்விடமும் அவனுடைய வார்த்தைகளிடமும் பாதுகாப்பு தேடுதல் என்பது அவனிடம் அடைக்கலம் புகுவதாகும்; ஏனெனில் அவன் மட்டுமே தன் அடியாரிடமிருந்து தீங்குகளைத் தடுக்க வல்லவன். “அல்லாஹ்வின் வார்த்தைகள்” என்பது அவனுடைய அழகிய நாமங்கள், உயர்ந்த பண்புகள், அவனால் இறக்கப்பட்ட வேதங்கள் ஆகியவற்றைக் குறிக்கலாம்; அல்லது அல்ஃபலக் மற்றும் அன்னாஸ் என்ற பாதுகாப்பு அத்தியாயங்களைச் சுட்டிக்காட்டலாம்; அல்லது முழு குர்ஆனைச் சுட்டிக்காட்டலாம். “பரிபூரணமானவை” என்பது அல்லாஹ்வின் வார்த்தைகளுக்குரிய நிலையான பண்பு; அதாவது குறையற்றவை, பயனுள்ளவை, சிகிச்சையளிப்பவை, அல்லது பாக்கியம் நிறைந்தவை என்பதாகும்.

“ஒவ்வொரு ஷைத்தானிடமிருந்தும், ஒவ்வொரு ஹாம்மாவிலிருந்தும்” என்ற அவரது ﷺ சொல்லின் பொருள், மனித ஷைத்தானாக இருந்தாலும் ஜின்ன் ஷைத்தானாக இருந்தாலும் எல்லா ஷைத்தான்களிலிருந்தும் என்பதாகும். “ஹாம்மா” என்பது விஷமுள்ள அனைத்துப் பிராணிகளையும் குறிக்கும்; மேலும் அது பூமியில் வாழும் சிறிய உயிரினங்களையும் குறிக்கும் என்று கூறப்பட்டுள்ளது. “தீங்கிழைக்கும் கண்” என்பது பார்த்தவருக்கு தீங்கு விளைவித்து பாதிப்பை உண்டாக்கும் கண் பார்வையாகும்.

இந்த ஹதீஸில், இதில் கூறப்பட்ட துஆவின் மூலம் பாதுகாப்பு தேடுவதின் சிறப்பு விளங்குகிறது; மேலும் அல்லாஹ்வின் நெருங்கிய தோழன் இப்ராஹீம் (அலைஹிஸ்ஸலாம்) அவர்களின் சுன்னாவை பின்பற்ற நபி ﷺ அவர்கள் கொண்டிருந்த ஆவலையும் இது காட்டுகிறது.
